1. Inspection & Assessment
- The first step is to carefully inspect the sunken apron to assess the cause of the sinking. Common causes include poor drainage, insufficient base material, or heavy vehicle traffic.
2. Excavation & Removal
- The sunken section of the apron is excavated to remove the damaged asphalt and any underlying materials that may have deteriorated.
- If drainage is a concern, the area may be graded to ensure proper water flow away from the driveway and apron.
3. Base Preparation
- Adding fresh aggregate material to create a stable foundation for the new asphalt. The base is then compacted to ensure it’s solid and level. Proper drainage is also addressed at this stage to prevent future sinking.
4. Filling the Sunken Area
- Once the base is prepared, new asphalt is applied to the sunken area. This new layer is leveled to match the surrounding apron and driveway. The fresh asphalt is then compacted using a roller or machine tamper to ensure a smooth, durable finish.
